Possibly the most straighforward route is via the A1 and Richmond. If travelling south down the A1 take the A6108 to Richmond at Scotch Corner. If travelling north, take the B6271 just past Catterick. In either case you enter Richmond from the east and reach a mini-roundabout outside a supermarket. Go straight on for one hundred metres to another roundabout where you turn right on the A6108 signposted to Leyburn and Reeth. After 4 or 5 miles take a right fork on the B6270 towards Reeth. Continue on this road to the Bridge Inn at Grinton and then on through Fremington to Reeth Bridge. Follow the road as it turns sharply left over Reeth Bridge and into Reeth. Two hundred metres past the bridge the road swings right and uphill to Reeth Green. Just before the Green there is a small turning to the left which brings you to the Copper Kettle Teashop. Bellegreen is set back to the right of the Copper Kettle.

A more scenically attractive route is available if travelling from the south. This takes you through Leyburn and over Redmire and Grinton Moors to Reeth. The moorland stretch has magnificent views of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale but should be avoided in bad weather conditions. Leave the A1 at junction 51, take the second exit at the roundabout, and take the A684 for about a mile to a roundabout outside Bedale.Take the second exit and continue on the A684 through Crakehall, Patrick Brompton and Constable Burton to Leyburn. Turn right at the mini-roundabout opposite the Bolton Arms in Leyburn and take a left turn after about 200 metres opposite the Police Station (signposted to Grinton and Reeth). The road climbs out of Leyburn past some quarries to a crossroads. Go straight on at the crossroads entering a moorland area containing a number of army firing ranges. Follow this road across Redmire and Grinton Moors for several miles. As the road starts to descend at a cattle grid views of Reeth and Swaledale appear. Just after the youth hostel and another cattle grid the road drops sharply down to the Bridge Inn at Grinton. Follow the route from Grinton to Reeth as described above.
